The 5th Triennial Symposium

March 17-19, 2005

Call for Papers

The 5th Triennial Vietnam Symposium is scheduled for 17-19 March 2005, and will be held at the Holiday Inn Park Plaza, the hotel where the 1st through 3rd Triennial Symposia were held. The Center has already begun preliminary planning and has issued a number of invitations for key speakers for the program.

There are three key Vietnam-related anniversaries in 2005: The 40th anniversary of the first major commitment of US ground forces to Vietnam; the 30th anniversary of the end of the war; and the 10th anniversary of the normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam. Our symposia traditionally are open for papers examining any aspects of the American involvement in Vietnam and we encourage anyone interested in presenting a paper to submit a one-page proposal to the Vietnam Center. These anniversaries, however, suggest topics that participants might wish to explore. As always, graduate students are encourages to submit proposals.

Those interested in presenting papers should begin preparing now to submit a one-page proposal to the Vietnam Center. The Center’s deadline for receiving proposals is January 15, 2005. Submissions should be formatted to resemble an abstract, with title, thesis/purpose, and main points, up to 500 words.

Proposals should include the author’s name, title/affiliation, and contact information, and should be formatted to resemble an abstract, with title, thesis/purpose, and main points, in a maximum of 300 to 500 words. The proposals may be sent : by e-mail to vnca@ttu.edu;, by fax to (806) 742-8664; or by mail to:
