  • William D. 'Bil' Scott was born on July 5, 1938, and grew up in Denver City, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1961 with his B.B.A in Personnel Management. While at TTU he was a member of the Air Force ROTC program and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He served one tour in Vietnam with the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Korat RTAFB, in Thailand where he flew F-105 jets from October 1967 through May 1968. For his service he was awarded a Silver Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with10 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He left the service with the rank of major. He is married to Sallie Jo LeMond Scott and hastwo children: Susan Scott Rogers and Will Tyler Scott. His entire family are proud Red Raiders.
