(USN) Michael L. O'Brien serevd in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946. He was assigned to the USS Frank E. Evans while the ship was under construction. During his time aboard the Evans, he served as a radioman and witnessed a kamikaze attack.

(USA) Susan Kramer O'Neill was born in 1947 in Fort Wayne IN. She attended Holy Cross School of Nursing in Indiana and was briefly affiliated with "Youth for McCarthy" in 1968 before enlisting in the Army Nurse Corps. She completed Basic and Advanced Training at Fort Sam Houston TX, qualifying as an operating room nurse. Sue arrived in Vietnam in May 1969. She was assigned first to the 22nd Surgical Hospital at Phu Bai, then to the 27th Surgical Hospital at Chu Lai, and finally to the 12th Evacuation Hospital at Cu Chi. She extended her tour by one month, and left Vietnam in April 1970. Sue married Vietnam veteran Paul O'Neill and later attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she was active with the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. She became a writer and editor, publishing a book on her in-country experiences in 2001. I

(USN) Edwin L. ('Larry') Oswald was born in Savannah GA in 1945, and graduated from Benedictine High School there in 1963. Larry held a Navy ROTC scholarship at Rice University, and after graduating in 1967 he attended the Navy Supply Corps School at Athens GA. In March 1968 he was assigned to Naval Support Activity (NSA), Saigon, and then as Supply Officer on YRBM-16. He aided in the refitting of the craft in Sasebo, Japan, and accompanied it to its mooring near Chau Doc, where he remained until leaving Vietnam in February 1969. He was assigned to El Toro Naval Base CA, where he was on the security detail for Air Force One. He left the Navy in 1971 as a Lieutenant. In 1988 Larry went to the Soviet Union as part of a delegation of Vietnam veterans advising on the adjustment of Red Army veterans after the USSR's war in Afghanistan.

(USAF, CIA) James King Overman was born in 1933 in Wisconsin, where he attended St. John's Military Academy. He enlisted in the US Air Force at age 18, and after training as a mechanic he qualified for pilot training. Jim was commissioned in April 1954 at Goodfellow AFB, and he flew B-26 aircraft on patrols of the 38th Parallel in Korea 1954-55. He was based in Japan at Itami AFB 1955-56 and at Reese AFB 1956-69 before spending six years as an instructor in the Training Command at Randolph AFB. During 1965-67 he was assigned to the 817 Troop Carrier Squadron, Naha AB, Okinawa, with TDY postings to Danang and Ubon, Thailand. He flew 'Blind Bat' missions as a night forward air controller over the DMZ and North Vietnam. During 1970-71, as part of the 16th SOS, he flew nighttime interdiction missions over Laos and South Vietnam in AC-130 gunships, as well as High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) flights and a bombing mission over Cambodia. At his retirement from active duty in 1972 Jim was one of the most highly decorated Native American pilots in US Air Force history. During the 1970s and 1980s Jim flew on a contract basis for the Central Intelligence Agency, including evacuation flights from Phnom Penh, Danang, and Saigon in 1975, cargo flights in Angola in the mid-1980s, and training flights for Saudi pilots in Saudi Arabia in 1988.
