Scope and Content

Film; photographs; rolls of unexposed still negative and 16mm motion pictures film; motion picture film scripts; captions, and critiques; a news article; travel and pay vouchers; travel orders; and additional military administrative papers document Chuck Abbott's service in the United States Army, 1966-1969, particularly with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO), 1967-1969.

Biographical Note

Chuck Abbott served in the United States Army for three years (1966-1969). He attended Basic Training from August to October 1966 and then went to Motion Picture School from November 1966 to April 1967. Abbott spent the remainder of his two years in the U.S. Army with the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office (DASPO), Pacific Detachment. While in DASPO, Abbott served three 90-day Temporary Duties (TDYs) in Vietnam, one 90-day TDY in Thailand, one 90-day TDY in Korea, and a 30-day trip to Taiwan, Okinawa, and Japan.
