  • Less than one linear foot of photocopied documents pertain to the 12th Evacuation Hospital. The collection includes an Operational Report-Lessons Learned for the 12th Evacuation Hospital, 1 February 1970; Letter of Instruction for the 12th Evacuation Hospital, October 1970; and an After Action Report for the Inactivation of the 12th Evacuation Hospital, 15 December 1970; A ceremony program and correspondence concerning the 25th Infantry Division Memorial Dedication and Veteran's Recognition Ceremony at Sills Field, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Biographical Note:

  • Richard C. Harder was born in Horton, Kansas in 1927. In 1956, he volunteered for the United States Army Medical Service Corps and served a total of thirty years in the service. From June through December 1970, he served as a Lieutenant Commander with the 12th Evacuation Hospital and then with the 91st Evacuation Hospital from December 1970 through June 1971, stationed at Chu Chi with the 25th Infantry Division then at Chu Lai with the Americal Division. In 1986, Harder retired at the rank of Colonel and spent ten years as a church bus driver, then became a professional speaker/teacher, and later a volunteer at Brooke ARmy Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is a member of the national chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Association and has been active in keeping the 12th Evacuation alums together through newsletters and reunions.
