One folder of after action reports, briefing points and summary reports document Colonel Charles “Bob” Nulsen's service during the Vietnam Conflict as Senior Advisor for the Phouc Binh Thanh Special Zone in War Zone D, August 1962 - August 1963.

Colonel Nulsen served as Senior Advisor for the Phouc Binh Thanh Special Zone in War Zone D from August 1962 to August 1963. He served as advisory to Lieutenant Colonel Do Van Diem, the commander of this region. From May 1966 to February 1967, he served as the Brigade S-3 of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, and Battalion Commander of the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry in South Vietnam. From March 1967 through July 196,7 he was assigned to the G-3 section, I Field Force, Vietnam. From September 1967 to July 1968, Colonel Nulsen served as Chief, USMA-OCS Branch, DCSPER, DA after which he returned to the United States.
