  • Model of a Hong Kong junk purchased by R. Dale Newberry while on R&R leave in Hong Kong.

Biographical Note:

  • R. Dale Newberry was born in 1943 in Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1966 Newberry volunteered for the Navy and after basic training was assigned to the USS RIchard B. Anderson (DD-786). Newberry was initially an esign, later promoted to LT (jg). While on the Anderson, Newberry was a line officer serving as an EMO, CIC and in the communications department. Newberry was on the Anderson for two cruises between January 1967 and October 1969. After his second cruise, Newberry was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1969.
