Scope and Content

Five linear feet of books, VHS tapes, audio cassettes, correspondence, maps, posters, poetry, postcards, photographs, brochures, bumper stickers, certificates, articles, Agent Orange reports, PTSD reports, and a T-shirt documenting Phyllis Miller Copus' work with the Friends of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Vietnam War In Memory Project which is dedicated to Vietnam Veterans who did not die during the war, but died later as a result of the war.

Biographical Note

Jimmy Dale Miller was born in 1946 in Oakland, California. In 1965, Miller volunteered for the United States Navy, in which he served in Special Operations, 1965-1969. During this time, Miller served as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist aboard the USS Forrestal, including during the 1967 fire. Colonel Don Summers of North Carolina served as Miller's commanding officer and Captain of Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1971, Miller was discharged after receiving the Vietnam Service Ribbon. He then joined the Vietnam Veterans of America and held various jobs, including car salesman, TV repairman, dump truck driver, house builder and tire shop manager.
