Scope & Content:

  • Correspondence, military documents, and photographs document George C. Heady's induction into the Enlisted Combat Aircrewmen Roll of Honor at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, 4 November 2005.

Biographical Note:

  • George C. Heady was born in 1946 in Beacon New York. He volunteered for the US Navy in 1965 and served in Southeast Asia from 1967 - 1969. Mr. Heady served with the Seawolves Helicopter Attack Squadron (HAL-3) and held the positions of Crew Chief and Door Gunner while with this unit. Mr. Heady held the ranks of E4 and E5. Mr. Heady served during the Tet Offensive of 1968. George Heady received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal among his other extensive awards and citations. George Heady was Honorably Discharged from the Air National Guard in 1973 at the rank of SSGT E-5. Mr. Heady's wife, Monika opened and ran a disabled veterans home for mentally and physically disabled veterans from WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam, which she operated for 20 years.
