Scope & Content:

  • AH-1G Cobra pilot flight helmet and a cavalry hat document William Hayden (Pappy) Jones' service in Vietnam with F Troop, 4th Cavalry.

Biographical Note:

  • William Hayden (Pappy) Jones was born on 29 January 1938 in Russellville, Arkansas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and then in the United States Army in 1960. Jones went to Vietnam in 1967 and was assigned to MACV Headquarters. He went to Germany after his tour and then returned to Vietnam as a warrant officer with MACVSOG in 1969. From 1971-1972, Jones seved in Vietnam with F Troop, 4th Cavalry. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1977 and passed away on 12 September 2006.
