  • Approximately one linear foot of slides document Harry Peplinski Jr.'s service in the United States Navy with Commander Naval Forces Vietnam (COMNAVFORV), September 1969 - September 1970.

Biographical Note:

  • Harry Peplinski Jr. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1944. He volunteered for the United States Navy in 1962. Peplinski did a total of twenty-eight years of service with one year in Southeast Asia. While in Southeast Asia he was assigned to Commander Naval Forces Vietnam from September 1969 to September 1970. Peplinski held positions in Public Affairs and as a Photo Journalist. He was stationed in Saigon, but covered units throughout Vietnam. Peplinkski was a Journalist Second Class while in Vietnam. He took part of the naval invasion of Cambodia. For his service in Vietnam he was awarded numerous awards and citations including Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Republic of Vietnam Civic Action Unit Citation. In 1990 Peplinski retired at rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. He is currently an active member of the Patrol Boat Riverine Forces Veterans Association and went on to pursue a career as an Operations Manager of a Sheriff's Department.
