Scope & Content:

  • Less than one linear foot of publications from the 9th Infantry Division and the 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division collected by Colonel Kevin J. O'Neill, United States Army (Retired).

Biographical Note:

  • Kevin O' Neill was born in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1937. He volunteered and entered the U.S. Military Accademy for the Army in 1955 and graduated in 1959. He was in the Army for 30 years, and retired as a Colonel in 1989, one of which was spent in Vietnam. He served in the 2nd Battalion of the 321st Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborn Division from September- December 1969. Then the 25th Division Artillery, from December 1969 - January 1970. Then he was in the 2nd Battalion, 4th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade, 9th Infantry Division, from January 1970 - September 1970. During his service in Vietnam, O'Neill was stationed in Copperhead, CuChi, and Tan An. During Vietnam his rank was Major. While his service during the Vietnam War O'Neill was involved in the Incursion into Cambodia from April through June 1970. After retiring O'Neill became a special education teacher and eventually got his Master's Degree, and also Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University.
