Scope & Content:

  • Copies of two articles from Friends Journal written by Philip French document his experiences in Southeast Asia.

Biographical Note:

  • Philip L. French was born in Newcastle, Indiana 1940. He volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1965 and served with them for twenty-seven years. He was in Southeast Asia for one year with the Air Force and a little over two years with the Peace Corps (Thailand 1963-5). French served as a Pilot with the 606th Special Operations Squadron for one year (October 1968 to October 1969). During the year he was stationed at Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Air Base. Although he only held the rank of Captain in Southeast Asia, he later retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Reserves serving as a USAFAcademy Admissions Liaison Officer.
