Scope and Content

CD-ROM contains images from David Bliss' service in the United States Army with the 544th Transportation Company in Vietnam in 1969.

Biographical Note

David Bliss was born in 1948 in Ventura, California. He volunteered for the United States Army in 1968. Bliss did a total of two years and six months of service with one year of service in Southeast Asia. He was assigned to Engineer Company, 9th Infantry, Dong Tau, Vietnam from January 9th 1969 to January 8th 1970 and A company 565th BN, 1 BDE from February 1970 to November 1970. Bliss held the positions of coxswain, crew-operator for LCM-8 (Mike Boats). He held the ranks of E-3 and E-4 throughout his service in Vietnam. Bliss participated in the 9th Infantry withdraw from remote areas in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal for his service in Vietnam. He was discharged from the Army in 1970. After his military service, he served with the United States Forest Service and now is a semi-retired aircraft mechanic. H
