Scope & Content:

  • Approximately half a linear foot of military administrative documents, slides, film, and audio taped letters document Jerome S. Gladysz's service in Vietnam with the 229th Aviation Battalion (Assault Helicopter), 1966-1967.

Biographical Note:

  • Jerome S. Gladysz was born 30 September 1942 in Cleveland, OH. He graduated in 1965 from John Carrol University. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1965. Gladysz served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, with the 229th Aviation Battalion (Assault Helicopter), 1966-1967. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
