Twenty-seven films created by the Department of Defense Motion Picture Team in 1969, approximately 80 photographs, including 12 proof sheets and caption data sheets created by Michael Sheets document U.S. military activities in Vietnam, October 1968 and undated.
Captain Sheets served with the 221st Signal Company, 69th Signal Battalion from September 1968-1969 in the Republic of Vietnam. He spent the first three months of his Vietnams service as a photo team leader and the rest of his tour as OIC US Army Team 'A', Department of Defense Motion Picture Team, under the operational control of MACV Office of Information. His MOS (8500, 8510 - Pictorial Officer, Motion Picture Director) allowed for extensive travel throughout all of the Republic of Vietnam. He then worked with the Hawaii detachment of the Department of the Army Special Photographic Office from September 1969 to June 1972, where he served as OIC, photo team leader and detachment commander. He also had TDY assignments to the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and the Republic of Vietnam.
