Biographical Note
Carol Maxwell's son, PFC William Maxwell, served with US Marine Air Base Squadron 16 (MABS-16), Marine Air Group 16 (MAG-16), Heavy Equipment, 1968. In 1993, William Maxwell died of Agent Orange-related cancer.

One folder of poems and letters document Carol Maxwell's son's service in Vietnam, his death due to Agent Orange-related cancer in 1993, and her responses to both. Letters to her son are dated from the 1960s and correpondence to Dr. James Reckner and the poems
