Scope and Content
Approximately eight and a half linear feet of material deals with the issue of homeless veterans, particularly Vietnam veterans in the New York-New Jersey area in the in the 1980s and 1990s. The collection contains correspondence, news clippings, audio cassettes, and official and photocopied documents from various organizations and New York City and State offices including: The Vietnam Veterans of America, Queens Chapter #32 and the New York State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America; the Joint Veterans Council on Homeless Veterans; the New York City Coalition for Fairness to Veterans; the Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs and the City of New York's Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs; the City of New York Human Resources Administration; the New York State Temporary Commission on Vietnam Veterans; the Veterans Upgrade Center of New York; the New York State Council of Veterans Organizations; and the New York State Department of Labor.
