Dr. Raymond Monsour Scurfield, DSW, LCSW, ACSW, Professor Emeritus of Social Work, University of Southern Mississippi, worked in one of only two Psychiatric Teams in Vietnam during the war. His topic, 'Expanding the Circle of Healing,' refers to the increasing number of alternative modes of therapy found to be useful in treating PTSD, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dog- and Equine- therapy, and the Adventure Quest Program. He also touches on current high suicide rates among serving military personnel, dehumanization of the enemy, the myth of 'time healing all wounds,' and the pressing need for 'Critical Incident Debrifing.'
