Survivor South Vietnam Plaque The First Cavalry Divsion lost its colors in Korea, and was banished from returning to U.S. soil. After Korea, the Division wes sent to Japan in disgrace. In 1964, three Brigades were sent to Vietnam and were split up in all four Corps areas. Setting the pace with helicopter assaults, they changed war as it had been waged previously. The Division remained in Vietnam until the end of the conflict in 1975. Highly decorated by this time, the Division returned to the United States. This plaque is donated to the Vietnam Center by all of the men who served from the state of New Mexico.
