He was drafted into the United States Army in September 1967 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a doctor with the 12th Evacuation Hospital in Cu Chi from September 1968 to September 1969. Hirsch received a Bronze Star during his tour of duty and was discharged with the rank of Major following its conclusion. On Side 1, Gary talks about playing handball. On Side 2, Jeffrey sings, "Little Red Wagon."
