Description:
Framed oil painting of the USS Frank E. Evans (DD 754) on rough seas with the HMNS Melbourne in the distance. It was painted by Charles "Chuck" Huber soon after the the two ships collided in 1969. Run rust is visible on the starboard side, as well as, evidence of an oil spill from refueling in rough seas. The ribbons visible just below the starboard bridge are battle ribbons from Korea. The pennants flying from the port yardarm are the ships call sign NTKB. The black pennant flying from the starboard yardarm meant that the ship was "Brother" meaning that it was the lead ship of a "Hunter Killer" submarine chase. The painting depicts the Frank E. Evans chasing a sub at high speed with gloomy skies because of the events which prompted the picture to be painted with a patch of blue in the upper left signifying hope.
