Ann Mallett joined the Vietnam Center and Archive staff in March of 2007 as a project archivist hired to process the archive's Families of Vietnamese Political Prisoners Association (FVPPA) Collection, donated by the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation (VAHF). In May of 2008, Ann received a staff award from the Archive, an award of appreciation from the VAHF, and became the archive's first Vietnamese American Heritage Archivist. In August of 2009, she became a Certified Archivist. As the Vietnamese American Heritage Archivist, Ann's job duties derive from three goals: collecting materials that document the experiences and contributions of Vietnamese Americans in American Society, increasing the Vietnam Archive's profile and enhancing its reputation in the Vietnamese American community, and fulfilling the Vietnam Archive's mission to document the war from all perspectives. Ann has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Central Washington University and a Master of Arts degree in History from Eastern Washington University.
