  • Approximately 18 linear feet of manuscript documents detail various aspects of the 1984 libel case filed by William C. Westmoreland against the CBS Inc., et al. The date range of this material is from 1967-1985, though the vast majority of the collection comes from the period 1982-1985. Biographical Note:

  • Larry Berman was born on April 29, 1951 in the Bronx, New York City. He received his B.A. (1973) from The American University, graduating Magna cum laude and his M.A. (1973) and Ph.D. 91975) from Princeton University. Dr. Berman is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California at Davis. His works include: The Office of Management and Budget and the Presidency, 1921-1979 (Princeton University Press, 1979); Planning a tragedy : the Americanization of the war in Vietnam (W.W. Norton, 1982); Lyndon Johnson's war : the road to stalemate in Vietnam (W.W. Norton, 1989).
