Scope and Content

Over 12 linear feet of documents, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, press releases, books, photographs, a map, periodicals, microforms and artifacts document various issues related to the Vietnam Conflict and the history of Indochina. Operational and intelligence reports, logistical and medical studies, Congressional hearings, political, economic and cultural materials, papers by individuals, groups and government contractors and educational items from American military schools make up the document collection. These materials are from both the war and post-war eras (1886-2004) and are in the following languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese and French. Many documents are from the various arms of the US Military, the CIA, National Security Agency, State Department, British Foreign Office and Royal Navy, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces and the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. Highlights include documents on pacification, air interdiction of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, cryptology studies, intelligence material on French Indochina, the 1965 Battle of the Ia Drang, the 1968 Tet Offensive, the 1972 Easter Offensive, the 1973 de-mining of Hai Phong Harbor and media coverage of the Vietnam Conflict.
