Scope & Content:

  • Less than one linear foot of newspaper transcripts, website message transcripts, correspondence, and printed pages from Lana Noone's website (Vietnambabylift.org) document Noone's involvement with Operation Babylift and her efforts to gather and preserve the history of the event. The bulk of the materials date from the post-war period.

Biographical Note:

  • Lana Noone is the author of Global Mom: Notes From a Pioneer Adoptive Family. In 1975, she and her husband Byron Noone adopted their daughter, Heather, who tragically died. The Noones later adopted their daughter Jennie from Vietnam Babylift, and four years later they adopted their son, Jason, from Korea. Mrs. Noone is actively involved in the collection and preservation of the history of Operation Babylift. She attended the triennial symposium at the Vietnam Archive in 2002 and participated in a panel discussion on Operation Babylift. Mrs. Noone also runs a website, www.vietnambayblift.org, to gather and publish stories of operation Babylift. Byron Noone passed away from a cancer-related illness in 2002.
