Scope & Content:

  • One Super 8 film and five 8mm films document Steven Watson's tour of duty in Vietnam in 1971.

Biographical Note:

  • Stephen Watson volunteered for the navy in April 1961 and served for the next 28 years. Watson served in River section 511 as an after gunner and 533 and 512 as a boat captain. While with 511 Watson was stationed at Can Tho on the Bassac River. While with 533 Watson was at Nha Be in the main shipping channel. While with 512 they were based on LST 846 on the Bassac river. While serving in Vietnam Watson was awarded the following awards and citations: Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, Navy Achievement Medal with "V" and two Purple Hearts
