Scope & Content:

  • Wallet used by Robert A. Goode during his tour of duty at Nakhon Phanom (NKP), Thailand from 1974-1975. 75 photographs taken while Goode was stationed at Nakhon Phanom, Udorn, and Takhli Thailand. Also the Air Force Commendation Medal awarded for Goode's participation in the Mayaguez Mission. A 1972 non-regulation cap camoflage cap from Udorn, Thailand, a United States Air Force jungle fatigue coat. Goode's I.D. tags along with a Buddha charm. Also contains two Air Force patches, a ribbon bar, and a Thai five baht note.

Biographical Note:

  • Robert A. Goode was born in 1953 in Leesburg, Virginia. In 1971, Goode volunteered for the United States Air Force, beginning his four year, three month, two day service in the U.S. Military. 857 days of this service was served in Thailand, where Goode served as an Aircraft Pneudraulic Repairman, skill levels 3 and 5. He served first with the 58th Tactical Fighter Squadron from May through October 1972 with Constant Guard III at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand (RTAFB), then with the 474th Field Maintenance Squadron from March through August 1973 with Support Constant Guard V at Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, and finally with the 56th CAMS (Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron) from January 1974 through October 1975 at Nakhon Phanom (NKP) Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. At the beginning of his service, Goode was ranked as an Airman First Class (AIC) and was promoted to Sergeant and finally to Staff Sergeant by the time he was honorably discharged in 1975. While in Thailand, Goode was involved in Operation Linebacker I and the USS Mayaguez Mission Maintenance Task Force. For his involvement with the USS Mayaguez Recovery Mission from 13 - 15 May 1975, Goode received the Air Force Commendation Medal. After his service, he spent three academic quarters at Northern Virginia Community College starting in 1976. From 1977 through 1986, he served with the United States Army Signal Corp as a Telecommunications Center Operator and Supervisor. From 1988 through 1990, he studied as a Aviation Maintenance Technology student at Clayton State College in Morrow, Georgia and then From 1991 through 2001, was an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic with United Airlines. From 2004 to the present, Goode works for the United States Investigations Services as a Security Monitor and is a member of the Thailand Laos Cambodia Brotherhood (TLCB).
