Scope & Content:

  • Sixty-six aerial photographs and a helmet bag received from the estate of Colonel Findlay of the 20th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron (TRS) and two reels of 8mm film from Bangkok and Nakon Phanom in 1971.

Biographical Note:

  • Les Thompson was born in 1947 in Tulare, California. In 1968, he volunteered for the United States Air Force and served a total of four years, one of which was served in Southeast Asia. Ranked as an E4, Thompson served as a Ground Radio Repairman. 1968 - 1970, Thompson served with the 1913th Communication Squadron in Langley, Virginia. 1970 - 1971, he served with Detachment 5, 621st Tactical Control Squadron (TCS) at Nakhon Phanom, Royal Thai Air Force Base (RTAFB), Thailand and 1971 - 1972, he served with the 609th TCS at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. Thompson was discharged in 1972 and received the following medals for his service: Vietnam Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He is currently a member of the Thailand, Laos, Cambodia Brotherhood.
