John Delcambre was born in Dallas Texas in September of 1948. He joined the marines and arrived in Vietnam in December 1966. PFC Delcambre served as a Fire Team Leader in I Corps patrolling in Quang Tri province near the DMZ. While in Vietnam he earned 3 Purple Hearts, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Good Conduct Medal. Delcambre left Vietnam in July 1967 and ended his service with the Marine Corps as a Corporal. In 1974 he came to Texas Tech to study medicine, and he graduated in 1977 with his M.D. He is married to Christina Elaine Wynns-Delcambre.
