Description: ARVN Forces Inflict Heavy Casualties on NVA Invaders - Gia Dinh - A large force of North Vietnamese Army (NVA) troops infiltrated Go Vap in Gia Dinh Province, some three miles northeast of the Presidential Palace in Saigon on May 31. A combined force of Vietnam marines, Airborne infantry, Regional and Popular Forces, armored units and National Police drove most of the NVA out of the heavily populated area. Those not driven out were killed or captured. - A Vietnamese Marine takes cover during the fighting in Go Vap. The burning houses were set afire by retreating North Vietnamese troops.

Description: Contentment in Le My: ; Le My, South Vietnam: an atmosphere of relative peace and security has returned to the village of Le My. ; For the first time in many years communist Viet Cong guerrillas will not collect their heavy "rice taxes". For the first time in many seasons, a thriving village market is open, children attend school, and there is medical help for the sick.; What brought about this change in Le My was the arrival of a battalion of United States Marines in May, 1965. The Americans are now protecting an area of about 100 square miles in which some 20,000 Vietnamese villagers live. Description: New Communist Attacks Blocked by Army of Vietnam 23rd Division: ; The 23rd Division of the Republic of Vietnam Army (ARVN) has been inflicting heavy losses on the North Vietnamese Army since the start of new Communist attacks in South Vietnam's central highlands. A rich farming region, the area also is one of the main routes for Communist attacks on South Vietnam's capital Saigon. ; One of the units which has been instrumental in repelling the enemy is the 45th Regiment of the Division. Located just outside the Cambodia-South Vietnam border-town of Duc Lap, 250 kilometers north of Saigon, the 45th has a hilltop artillery base and headquarters. The Regiment's three infantry battalions are spread in a giant fan into the countryside to provide maximum protection for local citizens. Description: First United States Combat-Troop Reduction in Vietnam ; The first US combat-troop reduction in South Vietnam, 25,000 men, announced by Presidents Thieu and Nixon at their Midway Island conference in June, began with the vanguard departures of 800 US army infantrymen and 1,300 marines. The 25,000 troop redeployment will be completed by the end of August, and their mission in the republic absorbed by South Vietnamese forces. On July 8 the soldiers departed from Saigon Airport after ceremonies attended by President Nguyen Van Thieu, Vice-President Nguyen Cao Ky, American Ambassador Ellsworth Bunker, ministry and military staff chiefs. Before boarding a fleet of "Starlifter" jet transports for the United States, the homebound infantrymen were cheered by crowds of grateful Vietnamese citizens, whose representatives presented the soldiers with flower lais and souvenir gifts. Description: Iroquois helicopters of No. 9 Squadron (RAAF) prepare to land and pick-up Vietnamese Government soldiers (ARVN), near the Australian fortified position known as the Horseshoe in Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. The Vietnamese from the 3rd Battalion, 52nd Regiment of the 18th ARVN Division were off on a five-day operation with elements of D Company 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. "Delta" Company had been retraining the 400-strong 3rd Battalion at the Horseshoe and the operation named Quyet Thang, Vietnamese for "we strive for victory," gave the Vietnamese a chance to put into practice what they had learnt from the Australians.

Description: 155th Stand Down Flight. The entire company was turned over to the VNAF. Ban Me Thuot to Camp Holloway. I had been sent south to Ban Me Thuot to take the final pictures of the company. This was the time of Vietnamization, which meant the war was being turned over to the Vietnamese. In our case this meant that we were training the VNAF (Vietnamese Air Force). The 52nd had helicopter companies assigned to Ban Me Thuot, Kontum, and occasionally An Khe. The 155 was scheduled to be turned over to the VNAF, and the ships were being sent to Camp Holloway for the turnover events. This was their stand down flight, and the pilots flew quite aggressively. When the ships got close to Camp Holloway they popped smoke grenades in preparation for a fly-by of the tower.
