  • Lieutenant General Robert T Clark graduated from Texas Tech University in 1970. He was commissioned from the Army ROTC program as an infantry 2nd Lieutenant. He served as a rifle platoon leader and company executive officer in Viet Nam from 1971 to 1972, in the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. He was wounded in action on the 3d of October 1971 and received the Purple Heart. He went on to serve more than 36 years on active duty, to include commanding the 3d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He commanded the 101st Airborne Division from 1998 to 2000, and Fifth U.S. Army from 2003 to 2006. Lieutenant General Clark retired from active duty in January of 2007, and resides in San Antonio, Texas. He is a member of the U.S. Army ROTC Hall of Fame and is a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas Tech University.
