1st Lieutenant James Larry Hull

- James Larry Hull was born on December 28, 1945, and grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He started Texas Tech University in 1964 where he was active in the ROTC. He graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 1970 he was a 1st Lieutenant with the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron, which was a part of the 7th Air Force. In Vietnam he specialized in search and rescue and special forces missions. On February 19, 1971, he was shot down in Laos and was listed as MIA.
During his service, Lt. Hull received the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, National Air Defense Metal, Vietnam Service Medal, United States Aviator Badge Air Force, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Air Medal with 8 oak leaf clusters.
Lieutenant Hull’s remains were discovered in 2006 and returned to his family, and he is now buried at Arlington Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Tyra Lynn Hull and his daughter Laura Elizabeth Hull.
