Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Reports: Asia and Pacific and East Asia

The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) booklet is a government publication that contains news and commentary from various foreign broadcasts, news agency transmissions, newspapers and periodicals. The serial began as Asia and Pacific in 1967 and continued as East Asia in 1987. This series covers the following countries: Republic of China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Australasia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, Philippines. Items from foreign-language sources are transcribed, with the original phrasing and other characteristics retained. For further information, researchers should consult the inside cover-page of any issue. There are approximately 52 linear feet of FBIS Daily Reports in the collection. Except for a few issues, the Vietnam Archive has a complete run from May 1967 to December 1976 and December 1987 to April 1990.

The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) booklet is a government publication that contains news and commentary from various foreign broadcasts, news agency transmissions, newspapers and periodicals. The serial began as the People's Republic of China in 1973 and was renamed China later in its publication run. This series covers the following area: International Affairs (The United States and Canada, Soviet Union, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Pacific, Near East and South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, West Europe, East Europe and Latin America and Caribbean); National Affairs (Political and Social, Science and Technology, Military and Economic and Agricultural); Regional Affairs (East Region, Central-South Region, Southwest Region, North Region and Northwest Region); PRC Media On Taiwan Affairs; Taiwan; and, Hong Kong and Macao. There are approximately 7 linear feet of FBIS Daily Reports in the collection. The Vietnam Archive has nearly a complete run for 1973 and 1990-1991.
