Saigon: April 30, 1975 Oral Histories

Oral Histories are a great way to observe an individual’s actual experiences and perceptions of the war. The interviews are conducted with people after the events have occurred, sometimes right after the event or many years later. Most of the oral histories below show a brief biography of the subject, interview length and a typed transcript.   • Interview with Teodoro Gutierrez (1 October 1999)

    •  (USMC) Teodoro Gutierrez served with 3rd Marine Division in 1975 and participated in OPERATIONS EAGLE PULL and FREQUENT WIND. Gutierrez was one of the last Marines out of Saigon, Vietnam, in April 1975.   • Interview with Le Cao Dai (1 November 1999)

    •  Dr. Le Cao Dai attended the Lycee and graduated in 1945. Le Cao Dai also attended medical school and joined the Viet Minh in 1948. After the French departure, Le Cao Dai served as head of surgery at the Military Hospital of Hanoi.
